  • "Trapped" which leads to prayer request

Well, I am sure that everyone else had a better thanksgiving than I did. Starting Wednesday the 26th around 2am a drunk teenager took out my mailbox and both utility poles that were between the sidewalk and the road. Ange and I spent most of Wednesday trapped in our house as the various fire trucks, ambulances, telephone, and cable tv trucks blocked up our driveway and front yard. For about 5 hours in the middle of the night we had some peace, but I could not sleep. And then on Thursday the utility trucks came back to finish the repairs.

They had to lifeflight the driver out, and they took the passenger out by regular ambulance. I have not heard officially but the rumor is that the driver has died. So please pray for both of the families that have been affected by this tragic accident on my front lawn.

6:50 am EDT:  I have just woke up and immediately I can tell it is not normal outside. Usually at this time of the day there is a constant hum of the vehicle tires on the main road in front of the house. And out back is the sweet concert of the birds and insects. But this morning there is not a car on the road. The cicada's are all silent, not a single bird chirp to be heard. Definitely brings new meaning to the phrase "Be Still and know that I am GOD."

8:50 am EDT: Well there are a number of vehicles on the road, but still not the constant hum that is normal. There have been a few birds singing one at a time over the last two hours. This is definitely not going to be a normal day.

10:50 am EDT: It has been raining steady for about an hour and a half, not a hard rain.

2:30 pm EDT: Well this is supposed to be the worst part, so far it has rained very hard and the wind is gusting hard enough to knock some leaves and small twigs off the trees. So at least at our house the storm is not that bad, now DC is on the other side of the eye from us and they are probably getting it worse then we are.

4:20 pm EDT: Well the sun is peaking out and for us the storm was not worse then a strong thunderstorm back there in Michigan. If Ike follows in Hannah's path, then it will be an entirely different story.
